Co-Brand an Existing Community
Web Developers -- Leverage the power of social media to enhance your site! Utilize public content from a community or contribute content or users to a community. Example sites that can be built or enhanced using existing communities are:
  • Blogs
  • Personal home pages
  • Storefronts
  • Contests
  • News Sites
  • And more...

Retrieving Content from a Community

Content that is marked as publicly available by users in a community may be retrieved via one of the two web developer-friendly technologies.
Widgets
Embeddable objects, designed to be plugged into any HTML page, can be used to enhance web pages. HTML code is provided for images, video and audio to play on your site. Content may be static (you select the item to display), or dynamic (you select a channel or entire community to view recent content as a slide show) on your site.

RSS
Web developers with more programming control over their sites may find RSS feeds to be more flexible. RSS feeds are available within communities for nearly every type of content search including recent content, most viewed, tagged content, a specific users content and more. Look for the RSS icon throughout communities to retrieve the RSS link or check the documentation for standard syntax.

Adding Content or Users to a Community

Register and add users to a community and/or contribute content to the community from your site using an API.
API
An API is available for developers to post data into a community. The community owner must grant you the ability to add users or content by giving you an API key. To request this access use the "Request Information" form below to request a key. Please include the community name you are requesting access to.

Web sites can be creatively enhanced by extending a community. Here are a few examples that show how the technology can be used, at no cost, to extend your own site.
